On the 7th September 2006, the European Association for Railway Interoperability (AEIF)
officially transferred all its documentation to the European Railway Agency. Please read more about this event on the following
page.
All documents and information, including classified ones, formerly disseminated/developed by the AEIF are preserved in the
ERA Extranet
(login protected online collaboration space, restricted to the Agency business partners).
You will be redirected on the European Railway Agency website in a few seconds.
AEIF was the joint representative body mandated by the EU Commission
to lay down the Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSIs).
Between 2001 and 2006, AEIF was engaged in the development of the TSIs required by the Directive 96/48
(Interoperability of the Trans-European high speed railway system). AEIF has also been entrusted with the
task of setting up the TSIs for conventional rail according to the approved Directive on Interoperability of
Conventional Rail.
AEIF brought together representatives of the infrastructure managers, railway companies and industry.
It was co-founded by UIC, UNIFE and UITP and was supported by the European Commission.
